Buddu, Mawokota Lead Race for Talented Winger
By: Geoffrey Mugabi
Winger Aguma Edwin Westly is attracting fresh interest from Masaza Cup sides Buddu and Mawokota following his impressive rise in both university and Masaza football.
The wide attacker, who was previously linked with a move to SC Villa before the deal fell through, has continued to build a reputation as a direct and influential player in the final third.
His recent performances have placed him firmly on the radar of several teams ahead of the 2026 Masaza Cup campaign.
Aguma played a key role in Ssingo’s run to the 2025 Masaza Cup final, where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Buweekula, the current holders.
Despite the defeat, his consistency throughout the tournament underlined his ability to deliver on big occasions.
His impact has been evident over the past two seasons. In 2024, he registered three goals and five assists while featuring for Kabula, before going on to help Ssingo reach the final a year later.

At university level, Aguma has won two University Football League titles, an East Africa University tournament, and a national university championship with Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi.
However, his participation in the Masaza Cup ruled him out of the University Football League this season due to competition regulations.
His absence was keenly felt, as his university side exited the tournament without one of their key attacking outlets.
With Buddu and Mawokota now leading the race for his signature, and previous interest from SC Villa still lingering.
The 2026 Masaza Cup is scheduled to kick off in June, with several teams already strengthening their squads in anticipation of the new season.
