Preview: BUL Seek Redemption

BUL FC will travel to face Express FC on Friday evening at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, as they look to return to winning ways on Matchday 25 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The Eastern Giants suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat at home to UPDF FC and will be eager to bounce back, having last registered a league victory in March when they defeated Buhimba United 1-0 in Hoima.

Alex Isabirye’s side are currently winless in their last four league matches, drawing twice and losing twice.

However, they face a tough challenge against an Express FC side that is in good form, having won three and drawn one of their last four league games. The Red Eagles played out a goalless draw with NEC FC in their most recent outing.

Last season, BUL FC defeated Express FC 2-0 at Nakivubo, with Pascal Ngobi scoring and an own goal from Emmanuel Wasswa (now at Kitara FC) sealing the victory.

Express FC have not beaten BUL FC in the league since April 2023, when they secured a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from Allan Kayiwa and Anwar Ntege, while BUL’s consolation came via an own goal by goalkeeper Abdul Kimera.

Karim Ndugwa, who has scored seven league goals this season, is expected to lead the line for BUL FC, while mid-season signing Kenneth Kimera will be key for Express FC in attack.

A win for BUL FC would take them to 34 points while maintaining their position in eighth place. Victory for Express FC would see them climb from 10th to 8th place with 33 points.
