REVEALED: Why Maroons Will Host Police at Wankulukuku

Uganda Premier League side Maroons FC will host Police FC at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

On the same day, their women’s team, She Maroons, will also host Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women FC at the same venue in a Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League fixture scheduled for 10am.

This website contacted the club’s CEO, Rodrick Muhumuza, to explain why the team will play at Wankulukuku instead of their usual home ground in Luzira.

Muhumuza confirmed that an event held at the Luzira grounds on Friday, April 18, left the pitch unfit to host league matches.

“The pitch hosted a pass-out ceremony for recruit warders and wardresses (intake 2025/26), and it is currently not in a condition suitable for matches. Therefore, we had to look for an alternative venue,” he exclusively told this website.

However, Muhumuza also confirmed that Maroons FC, together with She Maroons, will return to hosting their subsequent matches at Luzira.

“We are only using Wankulukuku for this matchday, but we will host our next games in Luzira. The pitch will be in good condition and ready for use,” he added.

Meanwhile, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League Matchday 25 kicks off today with three fixtures, as UPDF FC host URA FC in Bombo, Express FC take on BUL FC at Nakivubo, and NEC FC face Mbarara City in Lugogo.
