Preview: KCCA Out to Complete Double Over Calvary and Close Gap at the Top

KCCA FC have an opportunity to close the gap at the top of the table to just one point when they visit Calvary FC on Saturday in Yumbe in Matchday 25 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

KCCA come into this fixture on the back of two consecutive 1-0 victories over Kitara FC and Entebbe UPPC, showing defensive solidity and efficiency in attack.

Calvary FC, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last three matches, drawing against Kitara FC and Lugazi FC, and registering a win over Buhimba United. Notably, they have not conceded a goal during this run.

Despite their position at the bottom of the table, Calvary’s recent form suggests they could pose a challenge, especially with home advantage. KCCA will need to be cautious to avoid any setbacks in their title pursuit.

In the first-round meeting, KCCA FC dominated proceedings and secured a 4-2 victory at Lugogo.

However, this time the match will be played on natural grass in Yumbe, which could favor the hosts.

Calvary FC sit at the bottom of the table with 10 points, seven points adrift of safety, and are edging closer to relegation.

A win for KCCA FC would take them to 54 points, just one point behind league leaders Vipers SC, who face Entebbe UPPC on Sunday.

KCCA FC co-head coach Jackson Magera, speaking in a pre-match interview via the club’s website, said:

“We know the table says they are at the bottom, but football is not played on paper. Calvary just took a point from Kitara, and we know how difficult Midigo can be with their fans. Our mission is to go there, do the right things, play well, be clinical, and collect maximum points if we are to keep the pressure on at the top.”

Stats – League Meetings
KCCA FC – 1 win
Calvary FC – 0 wins
Draws – 0

Prediction: Calvary FC 0-2 KCCA FC
