Preview: Lugazi Seek Redemption

Lugazi FC will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Kitara FC on Saturday at Najjembe in Matchday 25 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The hosts have endured a difficult run, going seven league matches without a victory, with their last win coming in February.

Kitara FC have also struggled for consistency in recent weeks, going three matches without a win. However, history strongly favors the visitors heading into this encounter.

The Royals have won four of their five meetings against Lugazi FC in all competitions, with Lugazi managing just one draw.

In the first-round meeting, Kitara FC secured a dominant 4-0 victory, with Patrick Kaddu scoring a brace, while Eddy Ssebandeke and Yunus Sibira each added a goal.

Speaking ahead of the match, Lugazi FC head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa expressed his determination to secure a positive result:

“We were disappointed to lose our last game against SC Villa. The boys played well but failed to get at least a draw. We need results, and we are desperate for maximum points. That is what we are targeting against Kitara on Saturday.”

Lugazi FC currently sit 13th on the table with 20 points, five points above the relegation zone. A win would lift them to 23 points and potentially move them up to 12th place, strengthening their survival chances.

For Kitara FC, victory could see them climb to third place with 51 points, depending on SC Villa’s result against Buhimba later in the evening.

Stats – All Competitions (5 games)
Kitara FC – 4 wins
Lugazi FC – 0 wins
Draws – 1

Prediction: Lugazi FC 1-3 Kitara FC
