She Corporate Hold Their Nerve to Overcome St Noa and Maintain Top Spot

She Corporate FC held their nerve to secure a 2-1 victory over St Noa in Matchday 20 of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League, maintaining their position at the top of the table.

In the match played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Saturday, Jesca Namanda and Rebecca Nakato scored for the hosts, while Imelda Kasemire netted a consolation goal for the visitors.

The game was lively, but neither side managed to find the back of the net in the first half.

Early in the second half, Rebecca Nakato gave She Corporate the lead, scoring from a rebound after an effort by Jesca Namanda.

In the 64th minute, Namanda doubled the advantage, finishing off a well-delivered assist from Sumaya Komuntale.

The goal took Namanda’s tally to 15 for the season, placing her firmly at the top of the scoring charts and bringing her closer to the Golden Boot with only two matches remaining.

With 10 minutes left to play, St Noa pulled one back through the in-form Imelda Kasemire, who converted from an assist by substitute Esther Nabuuso.

Late in the game, Namanda came close to making it 3-1, while St Noa nearly found an equaliser, but goalkeeper Molly Naava produced a crucial save to deny Serenge in a one-on-one situation.

At full time, She Corporate secured maximum points to maintain their lead at the summit.

The victory also makes She Corporate the first team this season to defeat St Noa both home and away, having won the first-round meeting 1-0.

The Sharks now have 50 points from 20 matches, two ahead of second-placed Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, who also registered a 2-1 victory over Rines FC.

With only two matches remaining, both She Corporate FC and Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC cannot afford any slip-ups, as any dropped points could prove decisive in the title race.

In their next fixtures, She Corporate FC will visit Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC on Sunday, May 10, while St Noa will host Amus College on the same day.
