Tuesday Fixtures
Mbarara City vs Express FC – Rwamwanja Stadium, 4pm
BUL FC vs NEC FC – FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, 4pm
URA FC vs Maroons FC – Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, 8pm
Mbarara City will look to extend their impressive home record against Express FC as they host the Red Eagles at Rwamwanja Stadium on Tuesday in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.
The Ankole Lions have defeated Express FC at home in the last two seasons and will be aiming to replicate that form as they push for maximum points in their fight against relegation.
The hosts have not lost a league home game against Express in the last seven years.
Last season, Mbarara City secured a 2-0 home victory over Express FC, having also beaten them 3-1 at the same venue in 2024.
However, Mbarara City come into this fixture on the back of a 1-0 defeat to NEC FC at Lugogo and are currently on a 10-match winless run in all competitions, including nine league games.
Their last victory came in February when they edged Calvary FC 1-0 at home.
Express FC, on the other hand, suffered a 2-0 home defeat to BUL FC and are winless in their last two league matches.
In the reverse fixture, Express FC registered a commanding 4-1 win over Mbarara City, with Richard Basangwa scoring a brace, while Muhammad Kagawa and Abdul Kawawa also found the net. Gabreal Eraga scored the consolation for Mbarara City.
However, all the goalscorers for Express FC in that match have since left the club during the mid-season transfer window.
Historically, both sides have been evenly matched, with Express FC recording five wins, Mbarara City also winning five times, and five matches ending in draws from their 15 meetings.
A victory for Mbarara City would lift them to 13th position with 20 points, allowing them to leapfrog Lugazi FC on head-to-head record.
For Express FC, a win would see them maintain 10th position and move to 33 points.
Mbarara City will obe without Marvin Busuulwa, Aaron Icumar, Sadat Nsubuga, Muhammad Kanyike, Kaka Omony, and Wyclif Ahumuza.
Express FC will miss Glory Kisule, who is suspended following a red card, and Blanchar Mulamba, who sustained a serious head injury in their recent match against BUL FC.
Mulamba has since been discharged from hospital and is out of danger but remains unavailable for selection for this fixture.
