The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the draw for the African qualifying phase of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Uganda’s senior women’s national team, the Crested Cranes, are among the 35 teams entered into the qualifying campaign.
The participating nations include Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Comoros, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The qualification process will be played over five rounds, with only two teams earning the right to represent Africa at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament, scheduled to take place from July 11 to July 29, 2028.
In the previous edition of the qualifiers, the Crested Cranes were eliminated by Cameroon with a 3-2 aggregate score.
