Preview: Can KCCA FC hand Vipers SC their first on-field loss?
KCCA FC will be aiming to hand Vipers SC their first on-field defeat of the season when the two sides meet on Wednesday evening under the floodlights at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, in Matchday 26 of the Uganda Premier League.
Vipers have suffered only one loss this season, which came via a boardroom decision after they failed to honour a fixture against Kitara.
The match was later awarded to Kitara, following a dispute linked to a competition format that was eventually scrapped in favour of the traditional system.
KCCA now have an opportunity to close the gap to four points should they secure victory, with the title race entering its decisive stages.
Heading into this fixture, KCCA suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Calvary in Yumbe, while Vipers come in high on confidence after a 3-0 win over Entebbe UPPC at Kitende.
In the reverse fixture, Allan Okello—now plying his trade in Tanzania with Young Africans, scored the only goal as Vipers edged KCCA 1-0.
Last season, Vipers also triumphed 2-0 at Lugogo, courtesy of first-half goals from Allan Okello and Yunus Sentamu.

“We know exactly what this game represents. We are playing at home, and our fans deserve a performance that reflects the weight of this jersey. We have prepared well for this fixture, and we shall deliver,” said KCCA co-head coach Brian Ssenyondo.
A win for Vipers, coupled with dropped points for SC Villa and Kitara, would see the Venoms open a nine-point lead at the top, leaving them needing just two more victories to successfully defend the league title.
Stats – All competitions (22 games)
KCCA FC – 6 wins
Draws – 6
Vipers SC – 10 wins
