————————————————————
Buhimba Saints United host Lugazi FC on Wednesday in Hoima in Matchday 26 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, with both sides in desperate need of maximum points to boost their survival hopes.
Coming into this fixture, Buhimba sit in the relegation zone with 15 points, five points adrift of safety. Victory would see them close the gap to just two points behind their opponents.
Lugazi, on the other hand, occupy 13th position with 20 points, level with Mbarara City, who secured a 2-1 victory over Express on Tuesday.
A win for Lugazi would lift them eight points clear of the relegation zone, offering a significant cushion in the survival battle.
In their previous outings, Lugazi suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Kitara, while Buhimba were heavily beaten 4-0 by SC Villa at Wankulukuku.
Lugazi will be without forward Alfred Leku, who was sanctioned by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel on Tuesday. Leku was found guilty of confronting match officials following their defeat to Kitara, where he reportedly kicked the referee’s dressing room door and threw a bottle.
As a result, he has been handed a five-match suspension, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the season—fined UGX 500,000, and issued a warning over future misconduct.
In the reverse fixture, Lugazi thrashed Buhimba 5-2 at Najjembe.
A draw between the two sides, combined with a win for Calvary over Entebbe UPPC, would see Calvary move to 17 points—just four points shy of safety—further intensifying the relegation battle.
