Preview: SC Villa Eye League Double Over Kitara

SC Villa visit Kitara FC on Thursday in Hoima in Matchday 26 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League as they seek to complete a league double over the hosts for the first time in history.

Coming into this fixture, SC Villa defeated Buhimba 4-0 in their last game, while Kitara earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Lugazi in Najjembe.

In the first leg, Frank Ssebuufu scored the decisive goal in the second half as SC Villa edged Kitara 1-0.

A win on Thursday would see the Jogoos complete a league double over the Royals.

The last time Kitara hosted SC Villa, Rogers Mugisha—now at KCCA FC—scored a late winner as Kitara secured a 1-0 victory.

On Matchday 25, Muhammad Shaban found the back of the net, and he will be eager to add to his tally at home.

Charles Lwanga, Frank Ssebuufu, Patrick Jonah Kakande, Najib Yiga, and Hassan Mubiru are expected to lead SC Villa’s attacking threat in Hoima.

Pre-match interviews

“This game is crucial for us because both teams are level on points, but our target is clear—to win and close the gap at the top. We learned from our loss away, and we are set. We expect to give our fans a positive result,” said coach Wasswa Bbosa.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re ready to rise to the occasion away from home. We must secure points in Hoima on Thursday to keep our ambitions alive,” said SC Villa midfielder Najib Yiga.

A victory for either side will lift them to second place with 54 points, five behind table leaders Vipers SC.

However, a draw would leave SC Villa, KCCA FC, and Kitara all on 52 points, seven behind Vipers, meaning the Venoms would need just two wins to be crowned league champions.

Stats – All meetings
Kitara – 2 wins
Draws – 2
SC Villa – 2 wins

Prediction: Kitara 0-0 SC Villa
