Lawrence Olaboro scored the decisive goal as Calvary FC defeated Police FC on Wednesday to keep their survival hopes alive.

A late second-half strike from Olaboro was enough to hand Calvary a crucial 1-0 victory over Police in Yumbe.

The win lifts Calvary off the bottom of the table to 16th place with 16 points, leaving them five points adrift of safety.

Mbarara City’s 1-0 victory over Lugazi also proved significant. Had Calvary lost and UPDF FC won their game on Thursday, Calvary would have been mathematically relegated.

The result means Calvary must win their remaining three matches and hope that both UPDF FC and Buhimba drop points to stand any chance of surviving relegation.

In their next fixture, Calvary will visit URA FC on May 12, while Police FC will host table leaders Vipers SC on the same day.
