Preview: KCCA, Maroons Seek Return to Winning Ways
KCCA FC and Maroons FC will both be aiming to return to winning ways when they face off on Thursday evening at the MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, in Matchday 27 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
KCCA FC come into the encounter after sharing the spoils with table leaders Vipers SC in their previous match.
The Kasasiro Boys looked destined for victory before substitute Glodi Beyuku scored a late equaliser for Vipers to silence the home crowd.
Maroons FC, on the other hand, surrendered the lead twice in a 2-2 draw against URA FC at Nakivubo.
In the first leg, the two sides played out a goalless draw in Luzira. Maroons have enjoyed a strong run of form recently, losing only once in their last nine matches — a defeat that came against NEC FC at the same venue where they face KCCA on Thursday.
Historically, KCCA FC have beaten Maroons FC 12 times in their last 21 meetings, while Maroons have registered three wins and the sides have shared the spoils six times.
A victory for KCCA FC would move them to second place with 55 points, four behind league leaders Vipers SC.
For Maroons FC, a win would lift them to eighth position with 37 points as they continue their push for a top-eight finish and qualification for next season’s FUFA Super 8 tournament.
Pre-match Interview
“We need to get back to winning ways, but most importantly, play beautiful football. We need to tuck away our chances, and we know there will not be many against a resilient Maroons side. We have worked on our finishing, and hopefully, we can replicate that on the pitch tomorrow,” co-coach Jackson Magera told the KCCA FC official website.
