Preview: Vipers SC Target Double Over Police FC to Move Closer to League Title

Vipers SC travel to Kamwokya on Tuesday to face Police FC as they aim to complete a league double over the hosts and move a step closer to retaining the Uganda Premier League title.

The Venoms also head into the match seeking a return to winning ways after going three matches without victory in all competitions. During that run, they registered league draws against KCCA FC and URA FC, as well as a goalless draw against Kitara FC in the Uganda Cup.

Police FC, meanwhile, suffered a 1-0 defeat to Calvary FC in their previous league outing but had earlier secured a 2-0 home victory against UPDF FC.

In the reverse fixture played at Kitende, Vipers SC cruised to a 4-1 victory over Police FC. Karim Watambala, Milton Karisa, Odili Chukwuma, and Usama Arafat scored for the Venoms, while Saidi Kyeyune netted the consolation goal for Police FC.

Last season, Police FC also lost 1-0 at home to Vipers SC, with Yunus Sentamu scoring the winning goal.

Vipers SC cannot afford to drop points in this fixture, especially with title rivals Kitara FC and KCCA FC also chasing victories in their respective Matchday 28 games.

For Police FC, the target remains a top-five finish, as assistant coach Ahmed Olima stated in the pre-match interview. A win on Tuesday would move the Cops to sixth place with 47 points.

It has now been nine years since Police FC last defeated Vipers SC at home, when they claimed a 2-1 victory in 2017. Notably, this fixture has never ended in a draw.

Stats – All Meetings

Police FC – 1 Win
Draws – 0
Vipers SC – 12 Wins

Prediction: Police FC 0-1 Vipers SC
