Uganda Premier League side Buhimba United Saints failed to honour their Matchday 28 fixture against NEC FC on Wednesday evening at Lugogo.

The match had been scheduled to kick off at 8pm, and NEC FC players, alongside the match officials led by center referee Solomon Jjumba, appeared on the pitch. However, Buhimba United Saints failed to turn up for the encounter.

According to FUFA competition regulations, failure to honour a fixture results in forfeiture of the match and can also attract further sanctions, including a deduction of three points and three goals by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel.

Should the result stand, NEC FC will move to 53 points in the fifth position, while Buhimba United Saints remain bottom of the table with 15 points.

If the club is further punished with a three-point deduction, they will officially be relegated with two matches remaining.

The no-show comes just a day after head coach Robert Mukasa reportedly stepped down from his role at the club.

According to reports, Mukasa had not received salary payments since December 2025, a situation that allegedly forced him to leave his position.

In Buhimba’s previous home game against Express FC, players reportedly arrived late for the match, which ended in a 2-0 defeat.

Reports at the time indicated that the players had initially threatened not to play until their salary arrears were cleared but later featured because the match was at home.

For the NEC FC fixture, it is believed the players refused to travel to Kampala as they continued demanding payment of their outstanding salaries.
