Amus College and Bukedea Comprehensive have reached the final of the 2026 USSSA Boys’ Football Championship after winning their respective semifinal matches on Monday.
Amus College edged tournament giants St Mary’s Kitende 4-1 in a penalty shootout after a highly contested semifinal ended goalless in normal time.
The two sides failed to break the deadlock throughout regulation time, forcing the game into penalties where Amus College held their nerve to score four spot-kicks while Kitende converted only one. Amus finished the game with 10 players after Pius Ayirwoth was sent off for a second bookable offense.
Despite the defeat, St Mary’s Kitende have already secured qualification for the FEASSA Games.
In the other semifinal, Bukedea Comprehensive defeated Kyadondo SS 1-0 in normal time to book their place in the final.
Patrick Ssenkusu scored the decisive goal in the second half as Bukedea Comprehensive sealed a historic victory over Kyadondo SS.
Kyadondo SS had eliminated defending champions Buddo SS in the quarterfinals to reach the last four, but their impressive run came to an end at the semifinal stage.
However, the school will take pride in reaching the semifinals for the first time in only their second appearance at the competition. They have also secured qualification for the FEASSA Games.
Bukedea Comprehensive will now face Amus College in Tuesday’s final at Lira Town College, with both sides aiming to win their maiden USSSA boys’ football title.
