Vipers SC have won the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season after defeating Maroons FC 3-0 at Wankulukuku on Tuesday evening.
The victory secured the title for the Venoms with one game left to play in the season.
Yunus Sentamu, Usama Arafat, and Karim Watambala were all on target as Vipers delivered a dominant performance to clinch their eighth Uganda Premier League title.
Coming into the match, Vipers had endured a difficult run after being eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by Kitara FC and going six consecutive matches without victory in all competitions. However, they rose to the occasion when it mattered most.
Sentamu gave the visitors the perfect start after scoring just 46 seconds into the match with a simple close-range finish, a goal believed to be the fastest scored in the league this season.
Usama Arafat doubled Vipers’ advantage at the stroke of halftime with a deflected effort that beat Maroons goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.
Midfielder Karim Watambala then sealed the victory in the second half, scoring Vipers’ third goal in the 58th minute to register his 11th league goal of the campaign.
The match also marked a special milestone for defender Hilary Mukundane, who made his 100th league appearance for Vipers SC on the same day the club secured the championship.
Vipers now move to 64 points, five ahead of second-placed KCCA FC, who were held to a goalless draw by URA FC at Nakivubo with one match remaining.
Coincidentally, on this same date in 2015, Vipers SC defeated BUL FC 1-0 to win the Uganda Premier League title.
The Kitende-based side will conclude their league campaign at home against Express FC this Saturday, where they are expected to celebrate the title triumph in front of their supporters.
The Venoms have now won back-to-back league titles after also lifting the trophy last season, taking their total number of Uganda Premier League championships to eight since winning their maiden title in 2010.
As league champions, Vipers SC will represent Uganda in the CAF Champions League next season.
Meanwhile, Calvary FC and Buhimba United Saints have officially been relegated from the Uganda Premier League.
