Uganda Cubs Learn Potential Opponents for FIFA U17 World Cup
The draw for the FIFA U17 Boys’ World Cup group stage has officially been conducted, with the Uganda Cubs now aware of their potential opponents should they qualify for the tournament.
The draw, held on Thursday, confirmed all the teams that have already secured qualification, with two remaining slots reserved for CAF representatives.
A total of 48 teams have been drawn into 12 groups, with each group consisting of four teams.
Uganda, Ghana, Mozambique, and Ethiopia are the four nations set to compete in the CAF playoffs for the final two World Cup spots.
Uganda will face Ghana on Saturday, May 23, while Mozambique take on Ethiopia. The winners of the respective playoff matches will qualify for the FIFA U17 Boys’ World Cup.
The winner between Uganda and Ghana will be placed in Group C, while the winner between Ethiopia and Mozambique will join Group B.

Should Uganda defeat Ghana and qualify for the World Cup, the Uganda Cubs will be drawn in Group C alongside Argentina, Australia, and Denmark.
In the previous edition, the Uganda Cubs defeated The Gambia in the playoffs to qualify for their maiden FIFA U17 World Cup.
At the final tournament, Uganda impressed by progressing beyond the group stage and reaching the Round of 16.
