U17 WWCQ: Uganda Vs Kenya – Preview, Team News and Prediction

Friday, May 22
Uganda vs Kenya, 4PM – FUFA Stadium, Kadiba

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Uganda U17 women’s national football team, the Teen Cranes, will be in action on Friday against Kenya in the second round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

The Kenyan team has already spent more than two days in Uganda preparing for the encounter, while the Teen Cranes held their final training session on Thursday morning at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

Kenya head coach Mildred Cheche entered camp earlier than Uganda, but Teen Cranes coach Sheryl Botes will be hoping to make full use of the home advantage as Uganda targets progression to the next round.

To reach this stage, Kenya eliminated Namibia 7-1 on aggregate, while Uganda advanced with a commanding 6-1 aggregate victory over Zimbabwe.

The previous meeting between the two sides saw Kenya eliminate Uganda 5-0 on aggregate in the last edition of the qualifiers. Friday’s fixture therefore presents the Teen Cranes with an opportunity to seek revenge and keep their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup dream alive.

Following the first leg in Kampala, the two teams will meet again for the return leg on Saturday, May 30, at Nyayo Stadium in Kenya to determine who advances to the next qualification stage.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Kenya will face either South Africa or Tanzania in the next round.

Teen Cranes head coach Sheryl Botes expressed confidence ahead of the game.

“We have worked on the key details to put the players in good shape. The atmosphere is positive,” she said.

“It’s not our first time playing against Kenya, and we know what they bring. We know it is going to be a competitive match, but our aim is to win,” she added.

Prediction: Uganda 2-1 Kenya
