Vipers SC were officially crowned champions of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League on Saturday as the season came to an end.

The Venoms defeated Express FC 2-0 on the final day to cap off their title-winning campaign in style in front of their home supporters at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Karim Watambala opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Gusto Mulongo added the second goal to seal victory for the champions, who finished the season unbeaten at home.

The goal was Watambala’s 12th of the season, further strengthening his case as one of the standout performers in the league this campaign.

The victory took Vipers to 67 points, five ahead of second-placed KCCA FC.

The Venoms celebrated their second consecutive league title and the eighth in the club’s history since winning their maiden championship in the 2009/10 season.

Unlike last season when the league’s top scorer came from Vipers, this season’s Golden Boot was won by KCCA FC striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who finished with 14 league goals.

Vipers players had earlier been promised a UGX 300 million bonus by club president Dr Lawrence Mulindwa if they won the league title, a target they successfully achieved.

The Venoms will now represent Uganda in next season’s CAF Champions League.
