Gomba Lions Sign Eight Players Ahead of 2026 Masaza Cup
Gomba Lions, the record winners of the Masaza Cup, have completed the signing of eight players ahead of this year’s tournament.
According to reliable sources, all eight players have already signed for the five-time champions and have started training with the team in preparation for the competition.
Goalkeepers Lawrence Kimera and Bashir Ssenyonga are among the new arrivals.
Kimera joins Gomba from 2023 champions Busiro Ssaza Team, while Ssenyonga arrives from defending champions Buweekula Ssaza Team.
At full-back, right-back Fahad Aniku has joined from Buweekula, while left-back Collin Ssemanda has also made the move from the defending champions.
Defensive midfielder Alfred Ssebunya has equally joined the Lions from Buweekula Ssaza Team.
The trio of attacking midfielders Moses Abiti, Isham Kibirige, and Owen Mawejje have also completed moves to Gomba.
Meanwhile, Gomba Lions appointed Felix Ssekabuuza as their head coach ahead of the new campaign. The tactician guided Buweekula Ssaza Team to the Masaza Cup title last year.
Gomba have been drawn in the Masengere Group alongside Kyaggwe Ssaza Team, Busiro Ssaza Team, Bulemeezi Ssaza Team, Ssese Ssaza Team, and Mawokota Ssaza Team.
The 2026 Masaza Cup will officially be launched on June 10, with the opening match scheduled for June 13.
