BREAKING: Karim Watambala Named 2025/26 Uganda Premier League MVP

Karim Watambala of Vipers SC has been named the official Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season.

The announcement was made on Friday evening during the Uganda Premier League Awards ceremony held at Kati Kati Grounds.

Watambala enjoyed an outstanding campaign, scoring 12 league goals and providing four assists as he played a crucial role in helping Vipers SC secure the league title.

The midfielder was one of the club’s most consistent performers throughout the season and was instrumental in Vipers’ dominance during their championship-winning campaign.

To win the award, Karim Watambala beat fellow nominees Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Ambrose Kigozi, Frank Ssebuufu, and Raymond Barasa.

Beyond his impressive statistics, Watambala stood out for his all-round performances, excelling in both defensive duties and attacking transitions throughout the season.

When Allan Okello left Vipers SC to join Young Africans SC in February 2026, Watambala was handed greater responsibility in the attacking midfield role, a challenge he embraced successfully.

“When Okello left, coach Ayala believed in me to take up the attacking midfield role, which I had to adapt to immediately. Since I already understood the players and the club’s mission, I had to give my best and deliver what was expected of me,” Watambala told NBS Sport.
