Transfer News: Latest Updates on Watambala, Sserunjogi, Kizito, Usama, Kigozi and Kisala
Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, clubs across the region have intensified their preparations for the new campaign, with several players and coaches attracting interest from potential suitors.

Karim Watambala

Vipers SC midfielder Karim Watambala is attracting interest from Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
According to reliable sources, his agent, Sultan Atubo, who also represents Uganda Cranes star Allan Okello, is expected to travel to Tanzania this weekend to hold discussions over a possible move.
Watambala enjoyed a stellar 2025/26 season, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in the Uganda Premier League.
He played a key role in helping Vipers SC win the league title and was officially named the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). He was also included in the Uganda Premier League Team of the Season.
Gavin Kizito

Versatile defender Gavin Kizito is currently out of contract, with reports indicating that KCCA FC are open to negotiations over a new deal.
The defender featured in 19 league matches for the Kasasiro Boys during the 2025/26 season and remains an important part of the club’s plans moving forward.
Joel Sserunjogi

KCCA FC midfielder Joel Sserunjogi is also out of contract, and reports suggest he could join Vipers SC should Karim Watambala complete a move to Simba SC.
The energetic box-to-box midfielder joined KCCA FC from Kajjansi United in 2023 on a three-year contract and has since established himself as one of the club’s most consistent performers.
Usama Arafat

Vipers SC forward Usama Arafat has attracted interest from Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Young Africans following an impressive debut season with the Venoms.
The skilful winger joined Vipers SC in 2025 from rivals KCCA FC and went on to score 10 league goals while registering five assists.
Simba SC are currently understood to be leading the race for his signature.
Ambrose Kigozi

Entebbe UPPC striker Ambrose Kigozi is reportedly on the radar of Kenyan giants AFC Leopards.
The club is said to have opened discussions with the player’s representatives over a potential transfer.
Kigozi enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Uganda Premier League, scoring 12 league goals for Entebbe UPPC.
Kefa Kisala

Experienced coach Kefa Kisala has reportedly opened talks with newly promoted Uganda Premier League side Kigezi HomeBoyz over the vacant head coach position.
Kigezi HomeBoyz are currently coached by Sadick Ssempigi, who holds a CAF B coaching licence.
However, FUFA regulations require all Uganda Premier League head coaches to possess a CAF A licence, prompting the club to consider changes to its technical bench.
Kisala is one of the most experienced coaches in Ugandan football, having previously managed Wakiso Giants, KCCA FC, BUL FC, UPDF FC and Express FC.
Transfer Window Dates
The official Uganda transfer window for the 2026/27 season will open on July 1 and close on September 19.
