Wasswa Bbosa Names His Top Five Performers of the 2025/26 Season
Kitara FC assistant coach Wasswa Bbosa has revealed his top five performers of the concluded 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season.
Speaking on NBS Sport’s Lunchtime Sports Show, the experienced tactician selected the five players he believes stood out most during the campaign in Uganda’s top-flight football.
Bbosa named SC Villa goalkeeper David Lukwago as his best goalkeeper of the season.
Lukwago kept 15 clean sheets in the league, the highest tally by any goalkeeper during the campaign. Despite his impressive performances, he was surprisingly left out of the official Uganda Premier League Team of the Season.
It should be noted that Lukwago was among the players promoted from the Express FC Junior Team to the senior side during Wasswa Bbosa’s tenure at the club.
In defence, Bbosa selected Vipers SC centre-back Hilary Mukundane and experienced Kitara FC defender Murushid Juuko among his top performers.
The coach also included Vipers SC midfielder Karim Watambala, who enjoyed a remarkable season.
Watambala was officially named the Uganda Premier League Most Valuable Player (MVP) after scoring 12 goals and providing four assists to help Vipers SC secure the league title.
Bbosa’s final selection was Kitara FC forward Jimmy Kalema, who impressed in his debut season in top-flight football.
Despite facing stiff competition for places, Kalema established himself as a key member of the Kitara FC squad. He scored six goals in all competitions, including the decisive goal in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final against SC Villa in Njeru.
