Uganda Cranes to Face Zanzibar as Paul Put Names 22-Man Squad
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed that the Uganda Cranes will face Zanzibar in an international friendly match on Thursday, June 11, at Amaan Stadium.
The fixture comes after the cancellation of the Cranes’ planned friendly matches against Tanzania and Madagascar, which were scheduled to be played in Morocco.
FUFA has since accepted an invitation from the Zanzibar Football Federation to participate in the celebrations marking the federation’s 100th anniversary.
The friendly match will form part of the centenary celebrations as Zanzibar commemorates a century of organised football administration.
Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has named a 22-man squad for the trip, consisting of 21 locally based players and midfielder Kenneth Ssemakula who is Unattached.
The match will provide Put and his technical team with an opportunity to assess players as preparations continue for upcoming international assignments.
