Teen Cranes Set for Ethiopia Friendly Ahead of CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed an international friendly match for the Uganda U17 Women’s National Team, the Teen Cranes, as part of their preparations for the 2026 CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship.
The friendly match against Ethiopia will be played on June 11 in Ethiopia.
A delegation of 31 players and officials, led by FUFA Honorary Executive Committee Member John Chrizestom Kalibbala, is scheduled to depart Uganda on June 9, 2026, for Ethiopia before proceeding to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where the regional tournament will be held.
Uganda has been drawn in Group B of the CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship alongside Djibouti, South Sudan, and Zanzibar.
The Teen Cranes head into the competition as defending champions and will be aiming to retain the title they won in the previous edition.
The friendly against Ethiopia is expected to provide the technical team with a valuable opportunity to assess the squad and fine-tune preparations ahead of the tournament.
Uganda will be hoping to build on its recent success at the regional level and once again challenge for top honours in the competition.
