Can Kampala Queens Turn a Disappointing Season Into a Historic One?

Kampala Queens vs Lady Doves, 3:00 PM – First Leg
Kampala Queens FC have an opportunity to transform what has largely been a disappointing season into a historic one as they continue their quest for the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup title.
The Queens of Soccer endured a frustrating 2025-26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women’s Super League campaign, failing to defend their league crown and finishing third — their lowest league finish in the last five seasons.
However, the club still has a chance to end the season on a high after reaching the semi-finals of the FUFA Women’s Cup, where they will face Lady Doves in a two-legged tie.
Should Kampala Queens overcome Lady Doves, they will advance to the final to face either reigning champions Amus College WFC or rivals Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC.

Winning the FUFA Women’s Cup would not only provide silverware but also mark a significant milestone in the club’s history.
Kampala Queens have never won the competition, and lifting the trophy would represent their first-ever FUFA Women’s Cup title.
Such an achievement would go a long way in easing the disappointment of their league campaign and provide a memorable end to the season.
The pressure, however, remains on head coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal. While the Ethiopian tactician still has a chance to guide the club to historic success, questions could be raised about his future should Kampala Queens fail to secure the cup.
Kampala Queens held their final training session on Friday morning ahead of the crucial first-leg encounter at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The likes of Kamiyat Naigaga, Joanitah Ainembabazi, Zaitun Namaganda, Catherine Nagadya and Peace Muduwa are expected to lead the team’s charge as they seek a positive result before the return leg.
