Midfield Trio Set to Depart Express

Three midfielders are set to leave Uganda Premier League giants Express FC as the club begins preparations for the 2026/27 season.

Marvin Nyanzi, Elvis Ssekajugo and Blanchar Mulamba are all expected to part ways with the Red Eagles in search of new opportunities elsewhere.

Nyanzi joined Express FC at the start of 2026 from Kitara FC on a two-year employment contract.

However, his impressive performances during the second half of last season have attracted interest from several clubs, with the attacking midfielder now open to a move.

Meanwhile, Mulamba has already agreed a deal to join Gardner-Webb University in the United States.

The creative midfielder struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under head coach Jimmy Kintu after joining the club from Wakiso Giants.

Despite limited playing time, Mulamba remains highly regarded for his creativity and powerful long-range shooting ability.

Ssekajugo is also set to leave the club in pursuit of a new challenge, although he is expected to remain in the Uganda Premier League.

The talented midfielder emerged through the Soltilo Bright Stars Junior Team and has represented Uganda at U17, U18 and U20 levels.

In 2023, he was part of the Uganda side that won the CECAFA U18 Boys’ Championship and is widely regarded as one of the country’s promising young midfield talents.

More departures are expected at Express FC as the club undertakes a squad overhaul ahead of the new campaign, with several new signings also anticipated.

The Red Eagles endured a disappointing 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season, finishing 10th on the table and missing out on qualification for the 2026/27 FUFA Super 8 tournament.

Express will now be hoping to assemble a stronger squad capable of delivering improved performances and competing more effectively in the upcoming season.
