Lugazi Unveil Kikomeko as New Head Coach

Uganda Premier League side Lugazi FC have officially appointed Abbey Kikomeko as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

The Najjembe-based club reportedly beat off competition from newly promoted Kigezi HomeBoyz to secure the services of the highly-rated tactician.

Kikomeko replaces Simon Peter Mugerwa, who was relieved of his duties at the end of the 2025/26 season.

In a statement released by the club, Lugazi FC confirmed the appointment:

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Abbey Kikomeko Bogere as the Head Coach of the Senior Men’s Team.

He begins his duties immediately, having signed a two-year contract with the Leaders. His backroom staff will be communicated in due course.”

Kikomeko holds a CAF A Coaching Licence, meeting the requirements set by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for coaches managing clubs in the Uganda Premier League.

FUFA recently made it mandatory for all Uganda Premier League head coaches to possess a CAF A Licence as the minimum coaching qualification.

Lugazi FC finished 13th in the Uganda Premier League standings last season and will be aiming for a stronger campaign under their new coach in the 2026/27 season.

Kikomeko arrives with an impressive track record, having guided BUL FC to back-to-back FUFA Super 8 titles in 2023 and 2024.
