KCCA Close In on Denis Omedi Reunion with Ssenyondo

Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC have opened talks with Uganda Cranes forward Denis Omedi over a potential move to Lugogo, according to reports from FUFA TV.

The reports indicate that Omedi is already in advanced negotiations with the Kasasiro Boys and could be set for a reunion with coach Brian Ssenyondo.

Earlier this week, this website reported that Rwandan champions APR FC had internally informed Omedi and three other players that they were no longer part of the club’s plans for the upcoming season.

Although the forward is understood to have attracted interest from clubs across East Africa and Saudi Arabia, KCCA FC have emerged as strong contenders for his signature.

Reports also suggest that KCCA FC are set to part ways with Jackson Magera and hand Brian Ssenyondo full responsibility as the club’s head coach ahead of the new season.

Ssenyondo previously coached Omedi at Kitara FC, where the striker enjoyed the most successful spell of his career.

Under Ssenyondo’s guidance, Omedi helped Kitara win their maiden Stanbic Uganda Cup title in 2024 and established himself as one of the country’s most feared forwards.

The soft-spoken striker also gained international recognition after scoring a spectacular rabona goal against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8 tournament, a strike that earned a nomination for the FIFA Puskás Award.

Omedi leaves APR FC after a successful stint that saw him win five trophies with the Rwandan giants.

Should the deal be completed, he is expected to be one of KCCA FC’s marquee signings as the club looks to end its long wait for major silverware.

Known for his pace, powerful shooting, movement, and ability to adapt to different tactical systems, Omedi would add significant quality and experience to KCCA’s attacking options.

The Kasasiro Boys finished second in the Uganda Premier League last season and were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, ending the campaign without a trophy.

As preparations for the 2026/27 season gather pace, KCCA FC appear determined to strengthen their squad in a bid to challenge for honours once again.
