The Uganda U17 Women’s National Team, the Teen Cranes, completed the group stage of the 2026 CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship in style with a commanding 4-0 victory over South Sudan on Thursday.
In the match played at KMC Stadium, Shadia Nabirye and Justine Ayerango each scored a brace as Uganda secured a comfortable win to finish top of Group B with a perfect record.

The victory ensured that Uganda completed the group stage with three wins from three matches, scoring 20 goals and conceding none.
Coach Sheryl Botes’ side began their campaign with a 13-0 demolition of Djibouti before defeating Zanzibar 3-0 in their second match.
They wrapped up the group stage with Thursday’s 4-0 triumph over South Sudan to advance to the semi-finals as Group B winners.

Adding to the occasion, Crested Cranes stars Zaina Nandede and Ruth Aturo were present in the stands to cheer on the young Ugandan side.

Uganda will now face the runners-up from Group A in the semi-finals. The Teen Cranes are still waiting to learn their opponents, with Kenya and Tanzania both in contention.
