Golden Boot Winner Gumperom Joins UPL Giants
Uganda Premier League record champions SC Villa have completed the signing of striker Isaac Gumperom, this website understands.
The Jogoos beat off competition from several clubs, including BUL FC and NEC FC, to secure the signature of the highly-rated forward.
Gumperom joins SC Villa following an outstanding 2025/26 season with FUFA Big League side Young Elephants Academy FC, where he emerged as one of the most prolific strikers in the country.
The 24-year-old scored 17 league goals to finish as the FUFA Big League’s top scorer and claim the Golden Boot award.
His arrival comes at a crucial time for SC Villa, who are reshaping their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The club recently lost forward Hassan Mubiru to Tanzanian side Azam FC, while Charles Lwanga is also expected to depart upon the expiry of his contract.
Although Gumperom possesses a different playing profile from Mubiru, his versatility allows him to operate both as a central striker and on the wings, giving the coaching staff additional attacking options.
SC Villa are determined to strengthen key areas of the squad as they seek to return to winning ways after ending last season without a major trophy.
The 17-time league champions finished third in the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League standings and suffered defeat to Kitara FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final.
With expectations high at the club, Gumperom will be hoping to carry his impressive goalscoring form into the top flight and help the Jogoos challenge for silverware next season.
