Ashdod and Awany Go Separate Ways After Seven Years

Uganda Cranes defender Timothy Awany has confirmed his departure from Israeli club Ashdod following the expiration of his contract.

The centre-back brings an end to a memorable seven-year spell at the club, having joined Ashdod in 2019 from Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC.

Awany announced his departure through an emotional farewell message, thanking the club, management, teammates, and supporters for their unwavering support throughout his stay.

“After seven wonderful years, it’s time for me to say goodbye. Thank you, Ashdod, for your support, friendship, and dedication throughout this journey. A big thank you to Jacki and Noni for the trust and belief.

“The memories, lessons, and achievements we shared will always hold a special place in my heart.

“I am grateful to have worked alongside such an amazing team, and I wish you all continued success and happiness in the future. Once a team, always a family,” Awany said.

The Uganda international leaves as one of the club’s longest-serving foreign players, having established himself as a key figure in the team’s defence over the years.

Last season, Awany made 24 league appearances for Ashdod but was unable to help the club avoid relegation from the Israeli top flight.
