CAF Clubs Battle For Uganda Cranes Captain Aucho

Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho has emerged as a transfer target for Kenyan giants Gor Mahia and Tusker FC, this website understands.

Aucho, who still has one year remaining on his contract with Singida Black Stars, is reportedly on the shortlist of both clubs, with sources indicating that the Tanzanian side is open to negotiating a transfer.

Gor Mahia and Tusker FC will represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup respectively next season, and both clubs are keen to strengthen their squads with experienced players ahead of their continental campaigns.

The demands of continental football require depth and experience, factors that have prompted both clubs to actively explore the transfer market.

Aucho is no stranger to either side, having previously played for both Gor Mahia and Tusker FC. A return to Kenya could therefore be a smooth transition should the parties agree on terms.

In 2015, the experienced midfielder won the Kenyan Premier League title with Gor Mahia and remains highly regarded in the country’s football circles.

The box-to-box midfielder recently won the CECAFA Kagame Cup with Singida Black Stars. His vast experience could prove vital for either club as they prepare for continental competition.

Aucho has earned numerous caps for the Uganda Cranes and currently serves as captain of the national team.

Throughout his career, he has featured for several clubs, including Jinja Municipal Council FC, Simba SC, Young Africans SC, Baroka FC, Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, among others.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia are also reported to be interested in KCCA FC playmaker Bright Anukani, with a formal bid for the midfielder expected to be submitted this week.
