Greenlight, Top Times and Kampala Islamic Learn Opponents in ISSAU 2026 Draw

The sixth edition of the Inter Islamic Secondary Schools Association in Uganda (ISSAU) championship will return this weekend with several highly anticipated group-stage fixtures after the official draws were conducted on Wednesday, June 24, at Top Times HS Kyengera.
The draw ceremony was overseen by acting head teacher Hamid Ddumba and ISSAU General Secretary Mudathir Kule.
Defending champions Greenlight Islamic SS Nansana were drawn in Group A alongside Hamdan Islamic SS Nakifuma, Rabiha High School Bombo, and Ibun Kathir Islamic SS Buwambo.
In Group B, hosts Buziga Islamic and Theology Institute were paired with 2022 champions Top Times HS Kyengera, Kisaasi Muslim SS, and Kasawo Islamic SS.
Group C is expected to provide one of the tournament’s standout storylines. Last year’s runners-up Kampala Islamic SS Kireka and two-time champions Madina Islamic SS Nsangi were drawn together again, setting up a renewal of their recent rivalry. Bilal Islamic SS Bwaise also joins the group, while one late entrant is yet to be confirmed.

Netball Draw
The netball competition has attracted nine confirmed teams, with three additional late entrants expected to complete the groups.
Record champions Madina Islamic SS Nsangi, winners of two titles in three years, were placed in Group A alongside hosts Buziga Islamic SS Bwaise and Kampala Islamic SS Kireka, with one late entrant still to join the group.

Group B features Hamdan Islamic SS Nakifuma, Rabiha High School Bombo, Top Times HS Kyengera, and a late entrant.
Group C brings together Greenlight Islamic SS Nansana, Bilal Islamic SS Bwaise, Ibun Kathir Islamic SS Buwambo, and another late entrant.

Volleyball and Basketball
The volleyball competition will enter its fourth year, with participating teams expected to be unveiled on Saturday morning. Qamal HS Bunamwaya remain the dominant force in the discipline, having won the 2023 and 2025 titles, while Bugembe Islamic claimed the 2024 crown.
ISSAU will also introduce basketball for the first time this year, with the list of confirmed teams set to be released during the opening weekend.
Opening Activities
The championship will officially begin on Friday, June 26, at Bilal Islamic SS Bwaise with Quran recitation for boys and girls, public speaking in both English and Arabic, and competitions in Hadith, quiz, and poetry.
ISSAU was launched in 2019 before being interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition resumed in 2022 and has continued to grow in both sporting and theological activities.
