Greenlight Maintain Perfect Start as ISSAU Quarter-final Line-up is Confirmed
The 2026 Inter Islamic Secondary Schools Association Uganda (ISSAU) Games continued on Day Two, with the start of the football competition at Buziga Islamic and Theological Institute.
Greenlight Islamic Secondary School Nansana maintained their perfect record to book a place in the quarter-finals after collecting six points from their two Group A matches.
The defending champions began the day with a convincing 3-0 victory over Rabiha High School, Bombo. Mark Dandali and Abdul Razak Irrankunda were among the scorers as Greenlight made a strong statement in their title defence.
They followed it up with a 2-0 win over Ibun Kathir Islamic Secondary School, Buwambo, courtesy of goals from Tony Butungo and Elvis Kimuli.
In the other Group A fixture, Ibun Kathir thrashed Rabiha High School 5-0. Pius Bukenya scored a hat-trick, while Ayub Ismail and Jonathan Bbale were also on target.
In Group B, hosts Buziga Islamic and Theological Institute were held to a goalless draw by Kasawo Islamic Secondary School before both sides secured victories over Top Times High School, Kyengera.
Kasawo Islamic edged Top Times 1-0 through a first-half penalty converted by Jerom Kakonge after Carlos Echiru was fouled inside the penalty area.
Buziga Islamic and Theological Institute later defeated Top Times 2-0, with Emmanuel Nsubuga and Waleed Katende scoring the goals.
Group C produced several exciting encounters as Madina Islamic Secondary School, Nsangi endured a disappointing day. They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Dar Salaam Islamic Secondary School, with Arnold Wassajja scoring the decisive goal.
Madina then lost 2-1 to Kampala Islamic Secondary School despite Swamadu Tenywa finding the net. Akram Kigongo Adrabo scored twice for Kampala Islamic to seal victory and repeat last year’s achievement of eliminating Madina from the competition.
Madina’s only victory came in a narrow 1-0 win over Bilal Islamic Secondary School.
Elsewhere in Group C, Bilal Islamic defeated Kampala Islamic 2-1 through goals from Abdul Rahman and Steven Kule, while Hashim Naminya scored Kampala Islamic’s consolation.
Bilal Islamic and Dar Salaam later shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Ismail Kyazze gave Bilal the lead before Arnold Wassajja equalised for Dar Salaam.
At the end of the group stage, Greenlight Islamic Nansana, Buziga Islamic and Theological Institute, Ibun Kathir Islamic SS, Kasawo Islamic SS, Kampala Islamic SS, Bilal Islamic SS, Top Times High School Kyengera and Dar Salaam Islamic SS advanced to the quarter-finals.
