Vipers Defender Grant Matsiko Lands New Club

Defender Grant Matsiko has completed a move to Uganda Premier League side Entebbe UPPC from reigning champions Vipers SC ahead of the 2026/27 season.

This website understands that Matsiko has signed a two-year employment contract with the Bugonga side.

The right-back leaves Vipers SC in search of regular playing time after finding opportunities limited despite signing a new two-year contract with the club in July 2025.

Last season, Ashraf Mandela established himself as Vipers’ first-choice right-back, making 23 league appearances, while experienced defender Nicholas Wadada featured in three matches. Matsiko managed just two league appearances throughout the campaign.

The 29-year-old now joins an ambitious Entebbe UPPC side that finished sixth in the Uganda Premier League last season under head coach Abdullah Mubiru and has qualified for the 2026/27 FUFA Super 8 tournament.

Matsiko enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in the 2022/23 campaign when he was named in the Uganda Premier League Team of the Season.

Before joining Vipers SC, the defender previously featured for Kigezi HomeBoyz and Wakiso Giants.

Meanwhile, Vipers SC officially appointed experienced French tactician Denis Lavagne as their new head coach on Tuesday, June 30, ahead of the new season.
