SC Villa Complete Signing of John Asiimwe

Uganda Premier League record champions SC Villa have officially unveiled John Asiimwe as their latest signing ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The club confirmed the acquisition on Monday, July 6, through its official social media platforms.

Asiimwe joins the Jogoos from rivals Express FC, signing a three-year employment contract.

The talented attacker arrives as a direct replacement for Hassan Mubiru, who recently completed a move to Tanzanian giants Azam FC.

He becomes SC Villa’s first official signing of the current transfer window.

Asiimwe spent the last two seasons at Express FC, where he established himself as one of the league’s promising young attackers.

His versatility allows him to operate both as a winger and an attacking midfielder, giving the technical team additional attacking options.

Speaking after completing the move, Asiimwe expressed his excitement.

“I am delighted to have joined Uganda’s most successful club. It is a pleasure to be here, and I cannot wait to create great memories with this wonderful team.”

In 2025, Asiimwe captained the Uganda Cubs at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, further underlining his leadership qualities and potential.

He has previously featured for St. Henry’s College Kitovu and Bukedea Comprehensive School, among other teams.

SC Villa have already seen several key players depart during the current transfer window, including Diego Ssemugera, Hassan Mubiru, Elvis Ngonde and Charles Lwanga.

The Jogoos are expected to make more signings as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.

Last season, SC Villa finished third in the Uganda Premier League and were runners-up in the Uganda Cup after losing the final to Kitara FC.
