Musa Matovu Joins Uganda Premier League Side on Two-Year Deal
Left wing-back Musa Matovu has completed his move to Uganda Premier League side UPDF FC, Sports Light Uganda can confirm.
Matovu has signed a two-year contract with the Army side ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The versatile defender joins UPDF after featuring for Wakiso Giants in the 2025-26 FUFA Big League campaign.
Primarily a left wing-back, Matovu is also capable of playing in midfield, offering tactical flexibility and giving his coaches additional options.
The experienced player has previously featured for Wakiso Giants, Police FC, Proline FC, and Qatari side Aspire, among other clubs.
Meanwhile, UPDF recently confirmed the appointment of Byuma Muwadda as the club’s goalkeeping coach after he signed a three-year contract.
The Army side has also appointed Hussein Mbalangu as head coach, with the former NEC FC tactician tasked with building a competitive squad for the new campaign.
The Bombo-based club narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing just one point above the drop zone in the 2025-26 Uganda Premier League.
UPDF are expected to announce more new signings in the coming weeks, while several players are also expected to leave as the club continues reshaping its squad ahead of the new season.
