CATIDA Reshapes Squad Ahead of New Big League Season

CATIDA FC are continuing to reshape their squad ahead of the new Big League season after narrowly surviving relegation last term.

The Butchers have embarked on a major squad overhaul, retaining only eight players while bringing in eight new recruits, with the club targeting a total of 15 new signings.

The rebuilding process began under head coach Richard Luyima, who is overseeing the recruitment of new faces, including former captain Michael Abura, who had previously left the club after declining to continue playing in the Big League.

CATIDA FC have also added several promising players, including Brian Ssempijja, defender Pius Kwoyero and winger Bruno Mukwaya, among others.

To maintain some continuity within the squad, the club has retained goalkeeper Adriko Rogers, wingers Isaac Ssenyunja and Jeremiah Jabera, as well as defender Martin Kikambi Junior, among others.

Club president Ratif Dungu confirmed that the restructuring is aimed at restoring the team’s standards ahead of the new campaign.

“As we are getting in good shape ahead of the season, we are working to get back to our norm. Last season, we faced issues with players; some were not willing to fight for the badge, while others had disciplinary issues.

“For that reason, we decided to let go of most of the players and retain only eight. So far, we have recruited eight and are still targeting seven more,” Dungu said.

New recruits:
Ashraf Neymar, Bruno Mukwaya, Pius Kwoyero, Michael Abura, Bashir Kintu, Brian Ssempijja, Brian Masembe and Tadeo Muwanguzi.

Retained players:
Michael Kintu, Martin Kikambi, Simon Bazibu, Arafat Mawanda, Isaac Ssenyunja, Amur Benja, Adriko Rogers and Jeremiah Jabera.
