Hamz Cup Round of 16 Draws Held as Knockout Dates Revealed

The Hamz Cup Round of 16 draws have been conducted, setting up a series of exciting knockout clashes as the competition resumes on September 5.

Following the successful conclusion of the group stage on Tuesday, August 25, the tournament now enters its knockout phase after producing 167 goals in 48 matches. The Round of 16 draw was held on Thursday, August 27, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial.

The draw pitted Tororo Boys against Namutamba/Ndaiga FC, the only village-based team to reach this stage of the competition, while Arsenal Fans UG FC were drawn against Born Talent FC Mbuya.

Arsenal Fans UG topped Group G with maximum points and were among the standout teams in the group stage, while Born Talent FC Mbuya secured their place in the knockout stage after staging a strong comeback in their final group game to progress from Group C.

Other intriguing fixtures include Kafumbe United against Shan David’s FC, while Mutaasa Kafeero FC will face NURMAK Life Team FC in what is expected to be one of the highlights of the Round of 16.

Block F will take on Union Boda Boda Sports Club, while TikTok FC will face Ngeye Transporters FC. Best of the Best will meet Sanyu D Bags in another exciting encounter.

The final first-leg fixture of the Round of 16 is scheduled for September 24.

The Round of 16 will be played over two legs, with the aggregate winners advancing to the quarter-finals. Teams that reach the last eight will be guaranteed UGX 10 million in prize money as the competition continues towards the grand prize of UGX 50 million.

With the group stage now behind them, the remaining teams will be aiming to take another step towards Hamz Cup glory.
