KCCA FC will be targeting a winning start when they face NEC FC in their opening Uganda Premier League fixture on Saturday evening.

The clash between the two Lugogo-based sides is a repeat of this year’s FUFA Super 8 final, which KCCA won 1-0 courtesy of Saidi Mayanja’s penalty.

For KCCA, the objective this season is clear: to compete strongly for silverware after winning the FUFA Super 8 title.

The Kasasiro Boys have strengthened their squad with several new signings, including midfielder Yunus Sibira, Elvis Ngonde, Maxwell Owachigui and Charles Lwanga, among others.

The new additions have already made an impact, playing key roles in KCCA’s successful FUFA Super 8 campaign.

Under the stewardship of head coach Brian Ssenyondo, KCCA are now targeting the bigger prize as they look to end an eight-year wait for the Uganda Premier League title.

Against NEC, KCCA will be determined to collect maximum points and make a strong statement in front of their home supporters at Lugogo.

NEC FC, meanwhile, will be seeking quick revenge when they return to action against their Lugogo rivals.

Their defeat to KCCA in the FUFA Super 8 final left many NEC supporters frustrated, particularly over the penalty that handed their rivals victory.

Under head coach Badru Kaddu, NEC have assembled a competitive squad and will be aiming to challenge for the league title this season.

The club has also strengthened its squad with the additions of Fahad Bayo, promising youngster Henrique Lubwama and experienced defender Mustafa Mujuzi, among others.

With both sides harbouring ambitions of challenging for the title, there will be little room for error when they meet on Saturday. NEC will be determined to avoid another setback, while KCCA will be looking to build early momentum in their pursuit of league glory.
