Amus College Shine as Uganda Sweep Opening-Day Matches in Kigali
Amus College School produced a remarkable opening-day performance as Uganda recorded four wins from four matches at the CAF Africa Schools Football Championship CECAFA Qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Ugandan representatives, competing in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, wasted no time making their mark, collecting maximum points from their first two group matches on Thursday.
At the Kigali Pele Stadium, the Amus College girls started their campaign with a 3-0 victory over Burundi before securing another important win against hosts Rwanda, beating them 1-0.
The boys, playing at the FERWAFA Sports Complex, were equally impressive. They began with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over South Sudan and later produced a stronger attacking display to defeat Burundi 3-0.

The four victories give Uganda a strong platform heading into Friday’s final group matches, with both teams now targeting qualification for the semi-finals.

Uganda’s perfect opening day has put both Amus College teams firmly in contention, with the focus now shifting to securing progression to the decisive stages of the CECAFA regional qualifiers.
