Kawempe, Uganda Martyrs Shift Venues as FUFA Unveils 2026/27 Women’s Super League Fixtures

Kawempe Muslim Ladies and Uganda Martyrs High School Women’s Football Club will play their home matches at new venues when the 2026/27 FUFA Women’s Super League (FWSL) season gets underway.

According to the fixtures released by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies will host their home matches at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, while Uganda Martyrs will move from St. Gerald’s Stadium to MTN Omondi Stadium.

FUFA released the first-round fixtures on Monday, September 7, 2026, with 12 teams having successfully completed the licensing process for the new season. The FWSL is scheduled to kick off on September 19, 2026.

Defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies will begin their title defence at home against newly promoted Jinja United at 4:00 PM at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The new season will also feature double-headers involving FWSL and Startimes Uganda Premier League clubs at the same venues on the same day but at different times.

FUFA Competitions Director Shawn Mubiru confirmed the initiative, revealing that seven double-headers will be staged during the first round across three venues.

“This season we have introduced season double headers where a stadium will host an FWSL match and the UPL game on the same day. We shall have seven double headers in the first round, hosted at three stadiums: St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, Hamz Stadium-Nakivubo and MTN Omondi Stadium,” Mubiru said.

Mubiru explained that the initiative is linked to the UPL club licensing requirements, which require clubs to either own a women’s team or partner with an existing women’s team.

“This will give an opportunity for female matches to be played across different parts of the country, use good infrastructure, play in front of UPL fans and promote the women’s game while also getting a new fan base,” he added.

Following consultations with stakeholders and member clubs, FUFA has also adjusted the kick-off time for FWSL matches. All league games will now kick off at 4:00 PM across the country, following approval by the FUFA Executive Committee.

The remaining five fixtures on the opening weekend will be played on Sunday, September 20, 2026, with all matches scheduled for 4:00 PM.

URA Ladies FC will host KCCA Women FC at Hamz Stadium-Nakivubo, while Makerere University WFC will face Amus College WFC at Nsibirwa Playground.

Lady Doves FC will take on Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC at Katusabe Dove Playground, Rines SS WFC will host She Maroons FC at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, while She Corporate FC will welcome St. Noa Girls-Zana FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The 2026/27 campaign features 12 teams competing for the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League title.
