Anorld Vula scored in first-half stoppage time as the Uganda Cranes secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Libya in their Group H qualifier on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Hoima City Stadium.

The match, played under floodlights at the newly constructed stadium, saw Vula head Uganda into the lead following a well-delivered free kick from Allan Okello, sending the home crowd into celebration.

The victory takes the Uganda Cranes to four points from their opening two games in Group H, giving the team a positive start as they look ahead to their upcoming qualifying matches.

Despite failing to register a shot on target before half-time, Uganda made the most of their opportunity in stoppage time. The Cranes won a free kick, which was expertly delivered by Okello before Vula converted to give the hosts the lead.

Libya created several promising chances in the opening half, but Uganda’s goalkeeper produced important saves to prevent the visitors from finding the back of the net.

In the second half, Libya increased the pressure and pushed forward in search of an equaliser. However, the hosts remained composed and resilient, preventing the visitors from scoring.

It was a tense second half for Uganda, who failed to register a shot on target after the break. The lack of attacking opportunities left the home supporters watching nervously as Libya continued to apply pressure.

Having produced a strong performance against Tunisia in their opening game, many Ugandan fans expected another convincing display from the Cranes. Instead, it was a difficult and hard-fought contest, particularly in the second half.

Nevertheless, the result is what matters most for Uganda. The Cranes secured all three points at Hoima City Stadium and will now look to build on the victory in their upcoming Group H qualifier.
