Hoima City Stadium Set to Host International Basketball Qualifiers

Uganda has been confirmed as the host of the FIBA AfroBasket U18 Zone V Qualifiers.

In a development announced by the basketball governing body, the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA), Hoima Arena at Hoima City Stadium will host the regional championship.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 14 to 20, 2026.

Both boys’ and girls’ teams will compete for qualification to the FIBA U18 AfroBasket final tournament.

A total of 11 countries are expected to participate, including host nation Uganda.

Uganda previously hosted the same qualifiers in 2024 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, where the Junior Silverbacks and Junior Gazelles emerged champions in their respective categories.

The other participating nations include Egypt, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Somalia.
