NEC FC head coach Badru Kaddu has revealed his ambition to rise among the best coaches on the African continent.
In an exclusive interview with Sports Light Uganda, Kaddu spoke about his long-term vision and the progress he is making at NEC FC, a club he joined on November 5, 2025, on a three-year contract.
He began by outlining the foundation he has laid since taking charge.
“I started with team bonding and building unity to create teamwork and trust within the squad. I think we are currently at about 35% of how I want us to play,” he said.
Kaddu also highlighted the pressure that comes with the role, both from the club hierarchy and his personal ambitions.
“We work in a high-pressure environment with expectations from our top bosses. There is also pressure from the fans and from myself because I want to be among the best coaches in Africa. To achieve that, we must play well and win trophies,” he added.

The CAF A-licensed tactician went on to explain his football philosophy and what has guided his approach at NEC FC.
“My style of play is based on game understanding and possession control, built on trust in the players. I want the team to deliver an entertaining style of football with positive results to impress everyone, including fans and sponsors,” he noted.
Kaddu remains optimistic about NEC FC’s chances of winning silverware this season, particularly the Uganda Cup.
“I want to win this year’s Uganda Cup to elevate the team and give us a chance to compete on the continent,” he said.
NEC FC will face Vipers SC on Friday, April 3, at 3pm at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo in the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. The team will need to overcome the defending champions in a single-leg knockout tie to keep their title hopes alive.
Kaddu also emphasized the broader role of a coach beyond results.
“Coaches are teachers. We are paid to help players learn, improve, and win titles. So far, we are on the right path, and soon we will see our players featuring in top leagues around the world,” he explained.
NEC FC has shown defensive solidity in recent matches, keeping 10 clean sheets in their last 13 games across all competitions.
Since Kaddu’s appointment, the team has played 20 matches in all competitions, recording nine wins, nine draws, and only two losses, both coming away from home against KCCA FC and SC Villa.
