Kampala Queens midfielder Zaitun Namaganda and She Corporate FC head coach Ininahazwe Belyse have been named the best player and coach of March, respectively, in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.
The awards were presented on Tuesday at the Finance Trust Bank offices at Twed Plaza, with performances from matchdays 12 to 15 taken into consideration.
Namaganda emerged as the best player, beating competition from Uganda Martyrs defender Gloria Namugerwa and Kawempe Muslim Ladies’ Latifah Nakasi.
She scored four goals in the four matches considered, including a brace against Asubo Ladies, a winner against Olila High School WFC, and a goal in a 2-2 draw against Rines SS WFC.
In the coaching category, She Corporate FC tactician Ininahazwe Belyse edged Ayub Khalifah and Asefa Haile Gabriel to claim the accolade. She guided her side to three wins in four matches, the highest among all coaches during the period, and also registered the most clean sheets (three).
Ininahazwe has now won the monthly award for the third time this season, having previously claimed it in October and December.
Both the player and coach received a trophy and a cash prize of UGX 500,000, courtesy of league sponsors Finance Trust Bank.
Meanwhile, Asha Kamira and Novah Kibuuka were named the best journalists for the same period, with each receiving UGX 250,000.
The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League returns this Saturday with five matches on matchday 18, as Kawempe Muslim Ladies and She Corporate FC continue their battle for the title.
