CAF introduces Classification Games as full fixture revealed

The Confédération Africaine de Football has confirmed the complete match schedule for the upcoming CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals Zimbabwe 2026, introducing classification matches to ensure all participating teams remain actively engaged throughout the competition.

Set to take place from 06–10 April at Gateway High School in Harare, the tournament will once again spotlight Africa’s most promising U-15 boys’ and girls’ football talent.

With eight teams in each category divided into two groups, the competition format maintains its familiar structure, with the top two sides progressing to the semi-finals.

However, in a notable enhancement, CAF has incorporated classification fixtures, allowing teams that do not advance beyond the group stage to continue competing for final rankings.

This addition is expected to maximize playing opportunities and further enrich the developmental value of the tournament.

In the Boys’ division, the opening round delivers several standout fixtures. Senegal begin their campaign against Benin, while Morocco face DR Congo in another early test. Title holders Tanzania start their defence against Zambia, setting up a high-stakes encounter between two strong sides.

Hosts Zimbabwe will step onto the continental stage for the first time, taking on Uganda in a headline fixture that is likely to draw strong home support.

The Girls’ competition mirrors the excitement, with Tanzania facing Burkina Faso in the opening match. Ghana, the defending champions, will begin against Guinea, while Zimbabwe meet Morocco in a key early clash. Zambia and DR Congo complete the opening round fixtures in what promises to be a tightly contested match.

With the full schedule now confirmed and the addition of classification games, the tournament is poised to deliver a more comprehensive and competitive experience for all teams involved, further strengthening its role in shaping the future of African football.
