Maroons 1-0 BUL

Express 3-1 Police

Express FC scored two late goals to defeat Police FC 3-1 in Matchday 22 of the Uganda Premier League under the floodlights at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo on Wednesday.

Goals from Henry Wamala, Kenneth Kimera and Yosia Kisa secured the victory for the Red Eagles, while Saidi Kyeyune scored for Police FC.

The match initially looked set to end in a 1-1 draw, but late strikes from Wamala and Kimera sealed all three points for the hosts.

Police took the lead in the 30th minute when Charles Bbaale beat his marker and laid the ball off to Saidi Kyeyune, who fired a powerful shot into the net from outside the box.

However, their lead lasted only two minutes as Express responded immediately.

John Asiimwe delivered a well-weighted cross into the box, and Yosia Kisa met it with a powerful header into the top right corner to level the score at 1-1.

In the second half, Express came close to taking the lead when a flowing team move saw Asiimwe pick out Kenneth Kimera, but his effort was saved by goalkeeper Edward Kasibante.

Police thought they had restored their advantage when Bedia Ikemba found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Express eventually broke the deadlock in the 89th minute through substitute Henry Wamala. A long ball from defender Lubega caused confusion in the Police defence, and Kasibante misjudged the bounce, allowing Wamala to tap into an empty net.

Kimera then sealed the victory deep into stoppage time (90+3) after latching onto a long ball from goalkeeper Khassim Hafizi, beating the defenders before finishing emphatically.

The win marks back-to-back league victories for Express, both achieved with identical scorelines and at the same venue.

Police, on the other hand, have now suffered consecutive league defeats.

Express remain 10th on the table but move to 26 points, while Police stay sixth with 35 points and could drop to seventh depending on the result between NEC FC and URA FC in Lugogo.

In their next fixtures, Express will travel to face UPDF FC in Bombo on 15 April, while Police will visit Mbarara City the following day.
